The BSD provides high concentration (pure) tritium measurements.  It is a very reliable and efficient means of measurement for process management and inventory.  Typically installed in the mass spectrometer vacuum sampling section of the system, the BSD provides partial pressure and mol-% tritium measurements ranging from 100%  to  1% or lower with total pressure of 10 torr. Variations include interface connection, pressure range, sensitivity, and flow-through capability.
